Looking ahead to the spring with new plans and projects

Spring Update| Published in Company News on 2 March 2021 by our Marketing Team

Spring is now just around the corner, a season with which we all associate new beginnings, new plans, and new projects. This certainly tallies with recent developments at Pygott & Crone, and we thought we’d use this opportunity to tell you about a few of them.

You don’t need us to remind you how turbulent the last 12 months have been for everyone, it’s important to think of those who have lost loved ones, and pay tribute to all the keyworkers who have done such a fantastic job in unprecedented times. The success of the vaccines, which Britain has played a valuable part in developing, is encouraging and at least we can now see a clear pathway back to a more normal way of life for everyone.

This winter has been particularly challenging for many of us which is why we decided to start the year with a charity campaign: the #BHF100K challenge which you may have seen on social media. We are delighted to say that it was a tremendous success, raising £70,000 for the British Heart Foundation and, in the process, getting around 250 people out exercising and doing something positive.

The impact that the pandemic has had on estate agency has been significant, like many industries. Our efficient use of existing technology, and rapid take-up of new systems, has meant we were able to provide a continuous level of service throughout the first lockdown. The Government guidelines continue to restrict exactly who can move home, and so the systems we have put in place have enabled us to pre-qualify buyers and sellers much better. This has then increased productivity within our workforce, allowing us to do our jobs far more effectively.

The technology that we have at our disposal has given us the opportunity to expand the business into new areas. Whilst we have conducted a number of property transactions in the Nottingham area in recent years, we are now building a team of local property experts to develop our business in this market. The team will also support some of our new homes developments in Nottinghamshire such as Forest Park in Annesley, and The Rise in Southwell. We’ve got a few more exciting developments to come so watch this space!

We are really encouraged by how our new homes department has developed in the last few years. We’ve brought to market and sold some fantastic developments across Lincolnshire, working with some excellent housebuilders and property developers along the way. We’ve got a great sales team in place, backed up by our in-house marketing team who rapidly produce all the necessary marketing materials needed to promote a new homes development. We’re not standing still though, and will continue to develop this part of the business in all areas of Lincolnshire and beyond.

Although we are building the business into Nottinghamshire and beyond, Lincolnshire is very much our home county and we are re-affirming our commitment to the High Street. We recognise that a sizeable section of the population will continue to access estate agency in person, and we can’t wait to welcome customers back into our branches in the post-Covid world. Our Spalding branch is currently undergoing significant refurbishment, including a renewed shopfront that reinforces our strong recognisable brand; and a complete internal refit. Our thanks go to D Brown Building Contractors for the excellent standard of work done so far on the exterior, and to APSS for their design work on the interior – we’re looking forward to seeing the completed project. We are also taking the opportunity to refurbish the interior of our North Hykeham branch; both branches will be ready for the general reopening according to the roadmap set out by the Government.

Finally you may be interested to know that it is our 30th anniversary year, having first opened our doors in 1991. A lot has happened since then and we’ve seen many changes in the industry. Whilst many of our daily operations and functions have completely changed with the advent of technology, our ethos and core values remain the same. Developing our staff, the importance of great service, excellent knowledge of the local area, providing honest and trusted advice – these things will always stay the same.
