The impact of our fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
At Pygott & Crone estate agents we pride ourselves on the amount of support we have given to our local communities and charities through a range of initiatives, events, and challenges. Macmillan Cancer Support is one such charity that we have supported for a number of years, as many people in our organisation have had family members who needed Macmillan’s support.
Recently we received an email from Macmillan that reflected on our fundraising efforts. It was pleasing to hear just how much we had raised for Macmillan in recent years, £26,676, and very inspiring to see how our fundraising had made a difference – you can see this in the image below. It seems a very long time ago now, but just over a year ago, we did our 29km walk around Rutland Water which raised a healthy £4,555 in the end. And the coffee morning we held in September 2019 raised £1,363.

It really underlines the fantastic work that charities like Macmillan do; providing emotional, physical, and financial support when they need it most.
The Covid pandemic has obviously had an impact on all of our lives, and just one of the consequences has been a shortage of donations for charities across the UK. It is not yet fully known what effect the pandemic will have had on cancer diagnosis, treatment, care, and so on – but it seems likely that Macmillan and other charities will need support more than ever in the coming years. We will continue to fundraise as much as we can, as we have done for years previously. Hopefully we will be able to hold a full Coffee Morning in September if guidelines allow – these are always very popular with both staff and our local communities!
