As a company with many keen footballers within our ranks, we jumped at the chance to take part
Over the Bank Holiday we took part in a charity football match in Sleaford to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, who put out a strong side for the fixture.
We had a great afternoon at Eslaforde Park, home of Sleaford Town FC on Sunday 5th May raising money for the British Heart Foundation – one of our cornerstone charities and a very worthy one at that. Our company has close links to football in general, and Sleaford Town in particular – director Kevin Scrupps is a former club chairman and was instrumental in developing the facilities at the club.
We have many keen footballers within the ranks, with some boasting Football League experience whilst others play regularly in the Saturday and Sunday leagues. So we had no trouble raising a team which was captained by Lewis Brooks. They acquitted themselves well although on the day were edged by the BHF XI who won 3-2.
Dan Holland, our senior Grimsby valuer and ardent Liverpool fan, took on the responsibility of managing the side, perhaps inspired by his recent meeting with Kevin Keegan. Jasper Caudwell, normally seen in the colours of Horncastle Town, stood out on the left wing and saw his shot cannon off the crossbar; while goalkeeper Will Cooke made some acrobatic saves to keep the score down – no doubt the new gloves helped!
All in all it was a great showing with some very sore muscles being nursed in the days after. Most importantly we raised some money for the British Heart Foundation and had a great afternoon. Thank you to everyone who took part, and to Sleaford Town FC for kindly providing the kit and facilities.
