We’re really passionate about supporting charities and our local communities in a variety of ways: charity events, collections in-branch, fundraising, and sponsorship of events and teams across Lincolnshire. Supporting our communities helps the success of our business but most importantly helps those who may be less fortunate.
2020 is a leap year and as part of our support for Macmillan Cancer Support, we are focusing on the number 29 as £29 is the cost per hour for a Macmillan nurse to spend time helping people living with cancer and their families to receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
We’re looking to raise £2,900 by walking a 29km route around Rutland Water on Sunday 23rd February, individually and in relay teams. We’re also hosting quiz nights including a raffle: at the Linden Club in Grimsby on Friday 28th February (Facebook event here) – and at Sleaford Golf Club on Saturday 29th February. Entry fee for a team of up to 6 is £29.
Our cornerstone charities
Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning - £1,363 raised
On 27th September all our branches took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support, a cause we are always pleased to support. All staff got involved in baking items and taking donations on the morning, and there were many fantastic and delicious homemade cakes for the public to enjoy. The weather was a little mixed but a very successful and well-supported event saw us raise £1363.22 across all our branches in Lincolnshire. Thank you to everyone who helped and supported us on the day.
We supported our local foodbanks by collecting donations in our branches
As members of the Relocation Agent Network we took part in their 10,000 items of food campaign. With 10 offices across Lincolnshire we are well-placed to support this initiative and so we reached out to our staff, customers, suppliers, and communities to help us reach our target. We saw a tremendous response from all concerned, and managed to amass over 1,800 items for our local foodbanks.
Running the Lincoln 10k
In January we decided it would be a great idea to take part in the Asda Foundation City of Lincoln 10K – a very popular race held on the picturesque streets of uphill Lincoln. 65 members of staff signed up to race, and our chosen charity was Lincolnshire St Barnabas Hospice. After weeks of dedicated training with lots of encouragement and healthy competition along the way, we had a fantastic day and raised over £9,500 (absolutely smashing our initial target).
We support a number of sports teams, mainly at the grassroots level. Below you can find a list of clubs we sport.
Cleethorpes Town, Ruston Sports Junior, Grimsby Borough Junior ,Sleaford Town Senior & Junior, Holbeach United Senior & Junior.
Lindum, Bracebridge Heath, and Sleaford.
Velo Club Lincoln, and we also sponsor the Lincoln Grand Prix.
Boston, and Lindum
We are also one of the sponsors of the Lincolnshire Show and as members of the Relocation Agent Network we always get involved in any initiatives under the Agents Giving banner. In addition we participate in a number of local initiatives such as the Sleaford New Life Church Christmas hamper campaign, and we support a number of charities. These include St Andrew’s Care Home, Ewerby Dog Show, Callum Pite Smile, the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance; and Arthritis UK.
Our directors lead by example in raising awareness, promoting various charities and participating in various charitable events. Tim Downing is a trustee of LIVES and a committee member of the Star Trust whilst William Barker undertakes a number of charity auctions and harvest festivals throughout the year.
